content delivery network (CDN)
what is it?
A CDN is a server architecture that leverages many geographically separated servers to work in unison to rapidly deploy content to website users based upon the geographical locations.
how does it work?
All of the content in the CDN is replicated on all of the geographically placed servers. Depending on the location of your computer, you will download content from the most appropriately routed CDN server. This ensures that there are the fewest steps in between you and the content. The closer the server, the quicker the content will be delivered.
is it right for me?
Do you have a LOT of images, videos, or files? Do you need them delivered FAST? If so, then a CND might work for you.
